This simulation software was developed based on insights from resource recycling simulations derived from research conducted at the Closed Ecology Experiment Facilities (CEEF) in Rokkasho Village, Aomori Prefecture, and gained experience through participation in Mars habitation simulation experiments at the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) in the deserts of Utah, USA.

As an initiative to apply technologies developed in space to terrestrial technologies, we have developed a simulation software—Disaster Prevention Planning Support Simulator—based on SICLE to assist in formulating disaster prevention plans.
